Using Microsoft's FrontPage Express 2.00
To Create Webpages-The Basics
 
Backgrounds for Webpages
1.Open FrontPage.
2. Goto Format menu
3. Click Background
4. At this point you have a choice to use a graphic for a background or using a solid color. See image below.
 
5. To make a webpage with a solid color choose Background arrow.  Choose the color you want and then click OK.
6. Adding titles, introductions and other (non clickable links-hyperlinks)to add your web page.
    A. Begin typing to add text.
    B. There some basic text tools like those found in most wordprocessors:
Decrease font size   Bold text  Italic text  Underline text  Text to Right Center text Text to left
 
         Increase font size   
           Font style
7.  Adding Hyperlinks in a webpage Method 1
    A.  Type some text into your page.
    B.   Highlight the text.
    C.   Click the world icon with a chain link in the tool bar.    
    D. In the box type the web address you want to associate with the text on the webpage.            In this case we are associating snap on the webpage with http://www.snap.com in the hyperlink box.
 
 
A second method to add links to a page.  To use this method, you must save URLs in your
Favorites in Internet Explorer.  To do this, goto a website you wish to save, Click Favorites-
Add to Favorites and then click OK.
8. Open your webpage you are writing in Frontpage Express and shrink the window size.
9. Open Internet Explorer and shrink the window size.  Place the 2 opened windows beside each other.
10 In Internet Explorer click Favorites
11. Right click on the Url you want to put in your webpage and hold the right button down.  Drag the Url into the Frontpage Express webpage.

12.  Click File-Save  
13.  Click the box that says As File.
14.  Name the file and make sure htm is chosen in the Save as type box.
15.  If you have any background, button, bar or any other type of graphic file that is a part of the webpage, then you must always copy those files into the same directory as the webpage file (xx.htm or xx.html).
16.  Before viewing/running your webpage you must always save the file in FrontPage Express before running the webpage in Internet Explorer.  This is especially critical when you make changes.  If  you don't the changes will not show when you run it in Internet Explorer.
 
Note: When you save your webpage as a file and you have graphic files for buttons, bars, pictures etc. (these files typically end in XXX.gif or XXX.jpg) that your webpage uses; then those graphic files must always be in the same folder/directory. 
 
 
Viewing Your Page
 
17.  Always save your page as outlined in the steps 12-16 in Frontpage Express before viewing any changes you=ve made to your webpage.
 
18.  Click on the Internet Explorer icon on and goto File-Open-Browse.  Goto the location/folder of your webpage and double click on the webpage file(htm or html file which is normally shown as the Internet Explorer Icon.) 
19. Always click Refresh in the Tool bar or goto View-Refresh to show your latest changes.
